After finding an apartment about a year ago, one of the people that I was going to live with had bad credit. Found this out after the fact. That meant instead of putting down a small deposit we had to put down two months’ rent and then some. At the time, I couldn’t afford it. My good friend who was to live there too wanted to make it happen so he asked his mom if she could spot us on the deposit. She graciously agreed. I’d spoken with her on the phone and she made it clear that she just wanted her money back by the time we moved out. So when we moved out I sent her a check. This was a few weeks ago.
